Projects

A recent condition assessment of Hobson Wharf shows that a number of elements under the structure require repair and rebuilding works to be completed. Although the wharf continues to perform well above minimum requirements, it is important that this work is completed soon. The project is expected to generate significant noise, and at times dust, and we are focused on working closely with our customers to safeguard their boats and minimise inconvienience.

Considerations for Viaduct Marina customers are:

  • Noise - from hydroblasting, which will occur with the tides from approximately 730am to 6pm (sometimes earlier/later)
  • Dust and debris both in the air and carried aboard on footwear
  • Parking for customer vehicles

We are contacting customers in affected berths to advise of dates of work and to offer relocation where necessary. Carparking permits will be issued allowing customers to park on the adjacent Te Wero Island. Dust issues will be monitored, especially when north-east winds occur.

Project timing:

  • Contractors will arrive onsite on 29 August and scaffolding will be effected on 5 September. Affected boats will be removed by this time.
  • Works will finish by 30 November to allow quiet enjoyment of the area over the busy summer period.
  • The second phase of the project will start on approximately 1 May 2017.
